Bureaucratic Shenanigans
As we’ve previously noted, there is a powerful element within the State Department that is averse to security and does its best to thwart security programs. DSS special agents refer to these people as Black Dragons. Even when Congress provides clear guidance to the State Department regarding issues of security (e.g., the Omnibus Diplomatic Security and Antiterrorism Act of 1986), the Black Dragons do their best to strangle the programs, and this constant struggle produces discernable boom-and-bust cycles, as Congress provides money for new security programs and the Black Dragons, who consider security counterproductive for diplomacy and armed State Department special agents undiplomatic, use their bureaucratic power to cut off those programs.
Compounding this perennial battle over security funding has been the incredible increase in protective responsibilities that the DSS has had to shoulder since 9/11. The bureau has had to provide a large number of agents to protect U.S. diplomats in places like Afghanistan and Pakistan and even staffed and supervised the protective detail for Afghan President Hamid Karzai for a few years. Two DSS special agents were also killed while protecting the huge number of U.S diplomats assigned to reconstruction efforts in Iraq. One agent was killed in a rocket attack on the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad and the other by a suicide car-bomb attack in Mosul.
The demands of protection and bureaucratic strangulation by the Black Dragons, who have not embraced the concept of the ARSO-I program, has resulted in the OCI program being deployed very slowly. This means that of the 200 positions envisioned and internally programmed by Bureau of Consular Affairs and DSS in 2004, only 50 ARSO-I agents have been assigned to posts abroad as of this writing, and a total of 123 ARSO-I agents are supposed to be deployed by the end of 2011. The other 77 ARSO-I positions were taken away from the OCI program by the department and used to provide more secretarial positions.
In the wake of State Department heel-dragging, other agencies are now seeking to fill the void.

Feel good story of the day, hat tip Jawa Report, details via NBC Dallas-Fort Worth, Dallas Islamic Leader Deported:
An immigration judge in Dallas on Friday ordered an outspoken Islamic leader deported after the U.S. government alleged he had ties to terrorist groups in the Middle East.
Nabil Sadoun, a Dallas resident and former board member of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, or CAIR, was deported to his native Jordan after he failed to appear at his immigration hearing. He entered the U.S. in August 1993.
Sadoun’s attorney, Kimberly Kinser, said he was already in Jordan and was unable to return to Texas because the government had taken his permanent resident card, or green card.
She denied he was tied to any terrorist groups.
In the hearing, Judge Anthony Rogers of the Executive Office for Immigration Review, said Sadoun “made a decision to leave the U.S.” and forfeited his right to fight his deportation. He said the decision was final and could not be appealed.
In court, the judge made vague references to the government’s voluminous motion to deport him, including alleged involvement with Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood. The judge concluded Sadoun lied on government forms when he denied he was a member.
The judge also indicated there was evidence Sadoun contributed to the Richardson-based Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development, which was the largest Islamic charity in the United States. Prosecutors convicted the group of funneling money to terrorist groups and several of its leaders were sent to prison. In the case, CAIR was named an unindicted co-conspirator.
The judge’s comments in court provided the only window into the allegations against Sadoun. The documents detailing charges made by the Department of Homeland Security were not publicly available.
Ibrahim Hooper, a CAIR spokesman, said Sadoun left the organization several months ago.
Asked the reason for his departure, Hooper said, “Board members come on, (and) they leave.”
Right, they leave to jail. They leave the country, i.e., they are deported. Here’s a picture of Honest Ibe and the deported Hamas-linked CAIR exec on CAIR’s website – expect it to disappear soon.

Yaser Tabbara, Ahmed Rehab, Ibrahim Hooper, Safaa Zarzour, Nihad Awad, and Nabil Sadoun (sitting).

Giving headaches to Texans, I’m sure.
She and other Democrats want to give ObamaCare health care insurance to illegal aliens. Or rather, have American taxpayers pay for it. That’s absolutely peachy. I’m sure that Texans will EMBRACE that touching, benevolent action of Jackson Lee’s, because Texans need to be more compassionate, give up more of their hard-earned money to keep any illegal aliens from being left out of the ObamaCare socialist feeding trough… we can’t have them feel like they’re *gasp* ILLEGAL ALIENS. (/sarcasm)
For the record, illegal aliens DO receive free health/medical care. What the Democrats are trying to do is add on to that taxpayer-sugar-daddy perk by giving them free health care INSURANCE through the ObamaCare/PelosiCare bill.
I don’t think I’m alone on this: I want LESS time in Congress being spent on how to mollycoddle illegal aliens with taxpayer-funded health care insurance and MORE time spent on keeping illegal aliens out of America and deporting them when they’re caught. Let them come back here legally? Absolutely. But I do not want to pay a single penny for anything that encourages more to come here illegally. ObamaCare is the shining jewel of socialism… and offers tantalizing freebies to stoke the growing firestorm of illegal immigration.
Don’t even get me started on Pres. Obama’s promise that illegal aliens would not be a part of the ObamaCare bill. That lie was exposed a while back. By Joe Wilson. Who was attacked and was vilified by every leftist under the sun. And was RIGHT.
CALL CONGRESS AT 202-224-3121 AND TELL THEM “NO” TO HEALTH CARE BILL… KILL THE BILL!
[They promise to not give free health care to illegals because simultaneously they are working on an amnesty bill so there will be no illegals.]

Please read this to the end.
How about an AMERICAN PARTY!
[This was sent to Glenn Beck by the author of the email I was copied on]
GLENN BECK: I got a letter from a woman in Arizona . She writes an open letter to our nation’s leadership:
“I am a home grown American citizen, 53, registered Democrat all my life. Before the last presidential election I registered as a Republican because I no longer felt the Democratic Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. Now I no longer feel the Republican Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. The fact is I no longer feel any political party or representative in Washington represents my views or works to pursue the issues important to me. Instead, we are burdened with Congressional Dukes and Duchesses who think they know better than the citizens they are supposed to represent.
There must be someone. Please tell me who you are. Please stand up and tell me that you are there and that you’re willing to fight for our Constitution as it was written. Please stand up now.
You might ask yourself what my views and issues are that I would feel so horribly disenfranchised by both major political parties. What kind of nut-job am I? Well, these briefly are the views and issues for which I seek representation:
One, illegal immigration. I want you to stop coddling illegal immigrants and secure our borders. Close the underground tunnels. Stop the violence and the trafficking in drugs and people. No amnesty, not again. Been there, done that, no resolution. P.S., I’m not a racist. This is not to be confused with legal immigration.
Two, the STIMULUS bill. I want it repealed and I want no further funding supplied to it. We told you No, but you did it anyway. I want the remaining unfunded 95% repealed. Freeze, repeal.
Three: Czars. I want the circumvention of our constitutional checks and balances stopped immediately. Fire the czars. No more czars. Government officials answer to the process, not to the president. Stop trampling on our Constitution, and honor it.
Four, cap and trade. The debate on global warming is not over. There are many conflicting opinions and it is too soon for this radical legislation. Quit throwing our nation into politically-correct quicksand.
Five, universal healthcare. I will not be rushed into another expensive decision that will burden me, my children, and grandchildren. Don’t you dare try to pass this in the middle of the night without even reading it. Slow down! Fix only what is broken — we have the best health care system in the world — and test any new program in one or two states first.
Six, growing government control. I want states rights and sovereigntyfully restored. I want less government in my life, not more. More is not better! Shrink it down. Mind your own business. You have enough to take care of with your real [Constitutional] obligations. Why don’t you start there.
Seven, ACORN. I do not want ACORN and its affiliates in charge of our 2010 census. I want them investigated. I also do not want mandatory escrow fees contributed to them every time on every real estate deal that closes — how did they pull that one off? Stop the funding to ACORN and its affiliates pending impartial audits and investigations. I do not trust them with taking the census with our taxpayer money. I don’t trust them with any of our taxpayer money. Face up to the allegations against them and get it resolved before taxpayers get any more involved with them. If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, hello. Stop protecting your political buddies. You work for us, the people. Investigate.
Eight, redistribution of wealth. No, no, no. I work for my money. It is mine. I have always worked for people with more money than I have because they gave me jobs — and that is the only redistribution of wealth that I will support. I never got a job from a poor person! Why do you want me to hate my employers? And what do you have against shareholders making a profit?
Nine, charitable contributions. Although I never got a job from a poor person, I have helped many in need. Charity belongs in our local communities, where we know our needs best and can use our local talent and our local resources. Butt out, please. We want to do it ourselves.
Ten, corporate bailouts. Knock it off. Every company must sink or swim like the rest of us. If there are hard times ahead, we’ll be better off just getting into it and letting the strong survive. Quick and painful. (Have you ever ripped off a Band-Aid?) We will pull together. Great things happen in America under great hardship. Give us the chance to innovate. We cannot disappoint you more than you have disappointed us.
Eleven, transparency and accountability. How about it? No, really, how about it? Let’s have it. Let’s say we give the buzzwords a rest and have some straight honest talk. Please stop trying to manipulate and appease me with clever wording. I am not the idiot you obviously take me for. Stop sneaking around and meeting in back rooms making deals with your friends. It will only be a prelude to your criminal investigation. Stop hiding things from me.
Twelve, unprecedented quick spending. Stop it now.
Take a breath. Listen to the people. Slow down and get some input from nonpoliticians and experts on the subject. Stop making everything an emergency. Stop speed-reading our bills into law. I am not an activist. I am not a community organizer. Nor am I a terrorist, a militant or a violent person. I am a parent and a grandparent. I work. I’m busy. I am busy, and I am tired. I thought we elected competent people to take care of the business of government so that we could work, raise our families, pay our bills, have a little recreation, complain about taxes, endure our hardships, pursue our personal goals, cut our lawn, wash our cars on the weekends and be responsible contributing members of society and teach our children to be the same all while living in the home of the free and land of the brave.
I entrusted you with upholding the Constitution. I believed in the checks and balances to keep from getting far off course. What happened? You are very far off course. Do you really think I find humor in the hiring of a speed reader to unintelligently ramble all through a bill that you signed into law without knowing what it contained? I do not.
It is a mockery of the responsibility I have entrusted to you. It is a slap in the face. I am not laughing at your arrogance. Why is it that I feel as if you would not trust me to make a single decision about my own life and how I would live it but you should expect that I should trust you with the debt that you have laid on all of us and our children. We did not want the TARP bill. We said no. We would repeal it if we could. I am sure that we still cannot. There is needless urgency and recklessness in all of your recent spending of our tax dollars.
From my perspective, it seems that all of you have gone insane. I also know that I am far from alone in these feelings. Do you honestly feel that your current pursuits have merit to patriotic Americans? We want it to stop. We want to put the brakes on everything that is being rushed by us and forced upon us. We want our voice back. You have forced us to put our lives on hold to straighten out the mess that you are making. We will have to give up our vacations, our time spent with our children, any relaxation time we may have had and money we cannot afford to spend on bringing our concerns to Washington . Our president often knows all the right buzzwords like unsustainable. Well, no kidding. How many tens of thousands of dollars did the focus group cost to come up with that word? We don’t want your overpriced words. Stop treating us like we’re morons.
We want all of you to stop focusing on your reelection and do the job we want done, not the job you want done or the job your party wants done. You work for us and at this rate I guarantee you not for long because we are coming. We will be heard and we will be represented.. You think we’re so busy with our lives that we will never come for you? We are the formerly silent majority, all of us who quietly work, pay taxes, obey the law, vote, save money, keep our noses to the grindstone… and we are now looking at you.
You have awakened us, the patriotic freedom spirit so strong and so powerful that it had been sleeping too long. You have pushed us too far. Our numbers are great. They may surprise you. For every one of us who will be there, there will be hundreds more that could not come. Unlike you, we have their trust. We will represent them honestly, rest assured. They will be at the polls on voting day to usher you out of office.
We have cancelled vacations. We will use our last few dollars saved. We will find the representation among us and a grassroots campaign will flourish. We didn’t ask for this fight. But the gloves are coming off. We do not come in violence, but we are angry. You will represent us or you will be replaced with someone who will. There are candidates among us who will rise like a Phoenix from the ashes that you have made of our constitution.
Democrat, Republican, independent, libertarian. Understand this. We don’t care. Political parties are meaningless to us Patriotic Americans are willing to do right by us and our Constitution, and that is all that matters to us now. We are going to fire all of you who abuse power and seek more. It is not your power. It is ours and we want it back. We entrusted you with it and you abused it. You are dishonorable. You are dishonest. As Americans we are ashamed of you. You have brought shame to us. If you are not representing the wants and needs of your constituency loudly and consistently, in spite of the objections of your party, you will be fired. Did you hear? We no longer care about your political parties. You need to be loyal to us, not to them.. Because we will get you fired and they will not save you.
If you do or can represent me, my issues, my views, please stand up. Make your identity known. You need to make some noise about it. Speak up. I need to know who you are. If you do not speak up, you will be herded out with the rest of the sheep and we will replace the whole damn congress if need be one by one. We are coming. Are we coming for you? Who do you represent? What do you represent? Listen. Because we are coming. We the people are coming.”

John Falk on Immigration Reform

From: Roy Beck, President, NumbersUSA
Date: November 1, 2008
TX 18th
Dear friends in Texas’s 18th Congressional District,
You are fortunate to have a candidate for Congress who has gone out of the way to be identified as a TRUE IMMIGRATION REFORM CANDIDATE.
John Faulk was one of a small percentage of congressional candidates who volunteered to take our very tough survey on where they stand on key immigration issues. We don’t require 100% agreement with our positions — but pretty close. John Faulk met our criteria as a TRUE REFORMER.
Please take a look at the survey here that compares the candidates in this congressional race
NON-PARTISAN ALERT: NumbersUSA is strictly non-partisan. In some Districts like yours, the True Reformer is a Republican. But in others, Democrats hold that honor, such as Democrat Bob Conley, a True Reformer trying to unseat Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, who is one of the biggest amnesty supporters in Congress.
In the race for U.S. Representative from your Congressional District, the incumbent Member of Congress has taken actions that usually reward or encourage illegal immigration, that force congestion and that flood occupations with foreign workers to the detriment of vulnerable American workers and legal immigrants already here.
NumbersUSA never endorses candidates. We know you will cast your vote based on many issues, as well as character and experience. But we hope you will take into serious consideration the great disparity on immigration positions between the candidates on your ballot when you vote Tuesday.
Thanks for your concern on immigration issues,
Roy Beck
Founder & CEO, NumbersUSA
P.S. We can triple our membership quickly if our members email their friends about us and they in turn email theirs. Polls show that most Americans agree with NumbersUSA’s positions but, despite our recent rapid growth, most American voters still have never heard of us. You can help change that by forwarding this email widely. (Note: depending on your email provider, you may need to send this as an “attachment.”)

AP Poll: Obama leads or tied in 8 crucial states. Yahoo! article here
Article here: ACORN Owes Millions in Taxes
“An intrepid researcher has discovered more than 200 tax liens totaling more than $3.7 million have been filed by the government against the Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now for unpaid taxes since the late eighties.”

Obama just said on TV that we may think he is a communist for sharing his toys in kindergarten. Actually we may think he is a communist for taking the other childrens’ toys. Don’t Kindergartens actually own the toys, its been so long since I or my kids went to Kindergarten I can’t remember.
One of the hypothetical questions being asked in an ad on TV is who would you want to wake up and find out is President on November 5th.
If Charlie Rangel gets his way and a military draft call-up is implemented, which President would you want to serve under?
I just heard that the Fed interest rate cut today is the lowest its been since the Eisenhower Administration in the 1950s. I was about 10 years old then. My parents and my sisters and I lived better than ever before and ever since. My mother was a high school graduate but my father wasn’t. He did however go to night school to get an equivalent education. My point though is they were not college graduates but inflation was low, interest rates were low and we lived more comfortably than we could have imagined. Because of low interest rates we were able to have a car and a television. No one else on our street had either in the early 1950s. When a neighbor needed a ride to a hospital or doctor my parents took them. We lived in a suburb of Philadelphia. The key to the wonderful economics then was very low inflation. Also as the evil villain Donald Rumsfeld once said in a speech, the USA was the only country that could export goods. Our factories still functioned. Most of Europe and Asia had been destroyed by Europeans and Asians. We joined the war in the last few years and helped out. We also helped rebuild them both after the war.
The market reaction to the 1% interest rate has been mixed because no one knows what the effects will be. In the previous paragraph I was trying to show that it could be good. My oldest sister and her husband bought a house with a 2% mortgage in the late 1950s. She still lives in it today. She paid $12,000 in 1950’s dollars.
I heard late yesterday that the stock market dropped just before closing again because someone issued a false report about a large company.
Obama To Spread the Wealth Around to Needy Rivals (Scrappleface does satire)
(2008-10-25) — Coming off a month in which his campaign raised a record-breaking $150 million, Sen. Barack Obama announced today that he would voluntarily redistribute his cash to his presidential rivals including Libertarian Bob Barr, Independent Ralph Nader, Green Party pick Cynthia McKinney and even Republican John McCain, who has struggled to make ends meet while running on public assistance.
Breaking News Item: I wonder if George Soro’s accountant is upset about a $150 million unidentified out of balance condition in the records. (just being sarcastic)
Dick Morris on O’Reilly last night: If the healthcare system is expanded to include 47 million Americans who currently don’t have health insurance who is going to treat them. He also mentioned that the 47 million figure politicians use includes illegal aliens. (Whether or not we provide for them is a moral issue not germaine to this election at this time) Also among the 47 million are young people in the 20 to 40 age range who don’t want health insurance because 12 monthly premiums greatly exceeds the fee for service they can pay for a flu shot or rare doctor visit. I’m not going to go in depth on services currently available to the poor because we covered that in at least two previous posts.
However the limited medical service provider issue is relevant and something I hadn’t thought about. When you provide taxpayer funded healthcare to 47 million more people, people who didn’t go to the doctor for routine illnesses and cuts and bruises now start going. As I mentioned when I was a kid my family never went to a doctor for anything. When my dad’s employer began offering health insurance as an employee benefit we started going every time we had something more than the common cold.
Other families did as well. That is when doctors’ fees and hospital costs started rising. Demand drove prices up. An individual might not have wanted to pay, but if an insurance company was paying, why not use it. As an adult I watched co-workers take their kids to a doctor for things I never would have. So if the supply of medical service providers remains the same we have to go to rationing. If the government sets an artificial or bureaucratic price on fees then it becomes unprofitable for doctors.
It costs a doctor a couple hundred thousand to go to medical school. He also has to pay for malpractice insurance and all of the diagnostic equipment in his office as well as staff. I went to a doctor this week for a foot problem. He had at least 6 staff in his office, medical and clerical. He has to bill for insurance coverage payments, schedule appointments, provide for accounting and bank deposits for his office. He had a medical professional prepare my foot for minor surgery which I hadn’t anticipated when I went into his office.
If the government tells him he cannot charge a fee adequate to cover all of his professional expenses and include enough for his personal residence, auto and family expenses why go to medical school and incur the costs.
We then go to a rationing basis as in Europe and Canada. Now, Canadians come here. Europeans go to Africa on vacation for medical treatment. Where will we go!
One last comment. I didn’t watch the 30 minute Obama infomercial last night but I saw clips in the news. Obama said he will put a 90 day moratorium on mortgage payments. Will that increase the ability of the homeowner to resume his payments monthly when the moratorium expires. What affect will it have on the mortgage companies not receiving cash during that period and not collecting the interest which is the life blood of their business. It is the interest that enables them to pay their bills.

Obama said last night that “Guilt By Association” is unfair. I have a better phrase that is more appropriate: “birds of a feather flock together”. No one is indicting Obama for anything therefore “guilt” is not an issue.
How about “You can judge a person by the company he keeps”. Would you want your 8 year old hanging out with neighborhood kids that are always getting into trouble? Would you want your 16 year old child hanging out with known drug users or dealers? Obama’s friends Bill Ayers and his wife Bernadine Dorn have seriously bad rap sheets from the 1960’s era and are still today teaching overthrow of the US government and radical cultural ideas to naive, impressionable college students. How dare I call college students naive and impressionable! I was one and so were my daughters. If you were one too then you too know.
Guilt by association- Sheila Jackson Lee is also a leftist. Do a search on Sheila Jackson Lee leftist. You’ll be amazed at how much you’ll find. “leftist crowd at yesterday’s event” Sheila Jackson Lee
Larry Elder’s latest article:
“The soundest way to raise the revenues in the long run is to cut the (tax) rates now.”
On a lighter note, a little satire from Ann Coulter on pollsters
We don’t need lawyers in Congress, we need proven financial practicioners like John Faulk.

First let me state my position on immigration issues. I believe as I have stated before that there are two separate issues, closing the border and legalizing in a realistic manner those who are already here. We have some obligation to them other than the drastic “send them back”. We allowed them to come here, we use their services and we allowed them to stay in most cases long enough to settle in, buy property have children and take a shot at living normal lives as any citizen by birth.
Now read the article linked below. It is informative. And eye opening.
“Yet, even in the face of stark reality, black leadership organizations did not support restrictions on immigration. In fact, by the end of the 1990s, they opposed restrictions outright. The pattern among black elites — politicians, academics, community leaders — consistently has been to make alliances with other elites, in order to insure support for their ever-expanding demands on establishment whites. These blacks continued to nurse the notion that any alliances with other “minorities” would give them greater power in the race intimidation game being played out against the white adversary.”
“In the realm of pandering black elites, there is no more notorious public figure than Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, who represents the 18th District in Texas, and is the ranking member of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration, Border Security, Claims. Jackson Lee, who, for good reason, in 1998, was named the “biggest windbag in Congress” by the Washingtonian magazine, never tires of repeating that worn-out cliché about America being a “nation of immigrants.” Hence, we should relax and play our proper role as host to the teeming masses of the planet.”
More than ever before Americans need to elect members of Congress with strong financial backgrounds instead of lawyers who put us in this situation like Sheila Jackson Lee.
