Frugal Cafe on Sheila Jackson Lee
Tuesday, November 24th, 2009
I’d like to give a HUGE shout-out to Vickie McCure Davidson at The Frugal Cafe Blog for her catching everyone up on the antics of Sheila Jackson Lee. Read it and check out the comprehensive listing of links. Great job Vickie!
[Sheila Jackson Lee] and other Democrats want to give ObamaCare health care insurance to illegal aliens. Or rather, have American taxpayers pay for it. That’s absolutely peachy. I’m sure that Texans will EMBRACE that touching, benevolent action of Jackson Lee’s, because Texans need to be more compassionate, give up more of their hard-earned money to keep any illegal aliens from being left out of the ObamaCare socialist feeding trough… we can’t have them feel like they’re *gasp* ILLEGAL ALIENS. (/sarcasm)

Do You Know Your Current Congressional Representative
Monday, November 16th, 2009
56 Sponsored Bills (Ranks 2 of 440) 0 Made Into Law -
Do you want to! Or would you prefer someone who addresses the country’s pressing issues that you hear about and see on TV everyday. I can think of a few: Afghanistan War, Iraq War, Terrorism, Energy Policy, Environmental Issues, Foreign Policy, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Jobs, Economy, Recession, 1st Amendment Rights, Illegal Immigration, Mortgage Crisis. Seems as though she avoids the issues.

Commentary Magazine Challenges CD 18 to Defeat Sheila Jackson Lee
Wednesday, November 11th, 2009
In pondering whether or not Sheila Jackson Lee used government money to attend Michael Jackson’s funeral, Commentary Magazine ponders:
If she indeed did use government money to pay for her junket to the Jackson send-off, Jackson Lee will have to eventually report it. But given the tolerance of the people of Texas’s 18th Congressional District for this sort of ridiculous behavior, Jackson Lee doesn’t have a thing to worry about.
I hope you will disagree. We just need to raise $21,000 more and the Faulk for Congress Campaign to defeat Sheila Jackson Lee is on the radar. Can you help?

How Vulnerable is Sheila Jackson Lee?
Tuesday, November 10th, 2009
Do you doubt that Sheila Jackson Lee can be defeated? The conventional wisdom is that she is a 1000 pound gorilla, protected by a gerrymandered district that was formed by Tom Delay and friends in 2000, by moving its borders to exclude all likely Republican voters to neighboring areas.
But this is 2009, and next year, it will be 2010… Ten years after Congressional District 18 was formed. Much has changed since 2000.
Consider:
- In the 2000 Census, the African American population of the 18th CD was 52%
- In 2008, the American Community Survey estimated the African American population to be 37%
- The Texas 18th Congressional District covers an area from south side of the central business district to north of Intercontinental Airport. There is a ton of diversity in this area!
- Gentrification has substantially changed the TX 18 CD just like downtown Atlanta
- Sheila Jackson Lee has won so many races because the GOP has not given the voters a viable candidate as an alternative until John Faulk
Until we defeat Sheila Jackson Lee, and as long as she is not challenged, that war chest of campaign donations she receives from corporate “sponsors” will be redirected towards other liberal candidates to further the Obama agenda.
Many people said Jimmy Doolittle’s raid would have little effect and no one would survive. MacArthur’s landing on Inchon in Korea was widely ridiculed. “Kara” was the Iraqi defense network that defended the skies over Baghdad. It was so good that certainly the U.S. would suffer 500 casualties in the first night of the Desert Storm air war.
If we believe nothing can be done, why try? I need your support this quarter more than ever. The financial filing we present for this quarter will show significant momentum and win us institutional contributions. But unless people like you help, we can’t get far!
Will you join me? Donate $20, $50, or even $1000 and help make history!

Childen’s Defense Fund Rips Sheila Jackson Lee
Tuesday, November 10th, 2009
The always important, always on the run Sheila Jackson-Lee landed in Houston Sunday, worn out from voting to demolish our health care system in order to cover 20-30 million more people.
But Dr. Laura Guerra-Cardus of the Children’s Defense Fund in Houston wanted to know why she de-funded health care to children in Texas.
According to TV station 39online.com:
“There is no good reason, why should we pass a final health reform bill that stops short of providing real health care reform for our children,” said Dr. Laura Guerra-Cardus. “Moving CHIP children into an exchange will be more costly than CHIP, cover less children, and make million families pay more money for less benefits,” said Guerra-Cardus. “We don’t think this is the way to go.”

The Cost of Sheila Jackson-Lee’s Health Care Vote
Monday, November 9th, 2009
The U.S. House of Representatives passed a sweeping health care plan. It’s not law. Yet. But the nearly 2,000 page bill (did Sheila really read all of it?) contains some job killing provisions. They are outlined in Betsy McCaughey’s Wall Street Journal editorial. Among the provisions is a requirement that employers pay 72.5% of each employees health care plan. Today, before this bill, employers usually pay 50%.
We are facing a crisis in unemployment. Raising the liabilities employers pay for their employees is not a way to tackle unemployment.
Sheila Jackson Lee voted in favor of this legislation.
Read the rest of the WSJ editorial for other interesting costs of Obamacare as passed by the House Saturday.

Sheila Jackson Lee Wants to Arm Hugo Chavez
Monday, November 9th, 2009
A sitting U.S. Congresswoman wants to reconsider the U.S. ban of sending critical parts for fighter jets to the ‘friendly’ nation of Venezuela. Venezuela is the home of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, the most renown Marxist dictator in the Western Hemisphere next to former Cuban dictator Fidel Castro.
She told the Houston Chronicle before embarking upon a trip to visit the dictator:
“Jackson Lee described Venezuela as a friendly nation that the U.S. should cooperate with and said that the F-16 jets, which are built in Texas, was an issue of concern to her constituents in Houston.”

Queen Sheila’s Affirmative Action for Hurricanes
Sunday, November 8th, 2009
While a late season hurricane, named Ida, is swirling its way towards New Orleans this week, I thought we’d look back on one of Queen Sheila Jackson-Lee’s more famous moments. She demanded that hurricanes have what she termed, “black” names. I wonder. Does Hurricane Ida pass the Sheila Jackson-Lee naming test?
